da supremo: ExWHUemployee has dropped a worrying injury update regarding West Ham United centre-back Kurt Zouma.

What’s the latest?

da betobet: In a recent post on The West Ham Way, the club insider revealed that, following an injury sustained during Saturday’s 3-2 win over Chelsea, the centre-back will have a scan on Monday to determine the extent of the damage to his knee.

ExWHUemployee continued to state that the defender “felt something pop” – something which is often associated with a torn ligament – before going on to suggest that, should the France international’s injury be a long-term one, a January move for a centre-back will be “even more important.”

Speaking about the 27-year-old’s injury, the Hammers insider said:

Fans will be devastated

Considering how impressive Zouma has been since making a £29.8m move to West Ham this summer, should the defender indeed have torn a ligament in his knee – something which could potentially be season-ending – fans of the club would undoubtedly be devastated.

Indeed, over his 11 Premier League appearances this season, the £28.8m-rated centre-back has helped his side keep two clean sheets and has scored one goal – which just so happened to be the winner against Liverpool – as well as making an average of 1.2 interceptions, 0.6 tackles, 5.2 clearances and winning 60% of his duels per game.

These returns have seen the £120k-per-week man average a SofaScore match rating of 6.91, ranking him as David Moyes’ 10th-best performer in the top flight of English football.

As such, losing the defender for an extended period of time would undoubtedly come as a major blow to West Ham’s chances of securing a top-four finish this season, and would more than likely result in the Hammers having to once again dip into the transfer market for a new option in the position come January – as ExWHUemployee suggests.
