Kings XI Punjab have signed up Gurkeerat Singh and Parvinder Awana, two India domestic players, for the upcoming IPL season. Gurkeerat, 21, is a middle-order batsman from Punjab, while Awana, 25, is a seamer from Delhi.Gurkeerat had averaged 47.20 for Punjab in the group stages of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, in what was his debut List A tournament. Awana, who was Delhi’s leading wicket-taker in the 2011-12 Ranji Trophy, claimed 12 wickets in four games at the Vijay Haraze qualifiers, averaging 8.58. “We believe that both these young and dynamic players will add immense value to the team,” Arvinder Singh, the franchise’s chief operating officer, said.Earlier, they had signed up allrounders Azhar Mahmood and James Faulkner, and offspinner Ramesh Powar at the IPL auction, and retained the services of South Africa middle-order batsman David Miller. They had also traded Dinesh Karthik for allrounder R Sathish with Mumbai Indians and brought former Deccan Chargers medium-pacer Harmeet Singh into their squad.Edited by Siddarth Ravindran
